Through the partnership, Actemium manufactures the turbines for SeaPattern’s industrialization phase. There, pilot projects will show that the complete solution increases electricity generation by 7–10 %, without investments in heavy infrastructure.

SeaPattern’s plug-and-play solution captures the kinetic energy in the water downstream of existing hydropower plants. The turbines are a core component of the complete system. They work together with proprietary AI-based CFD software, patented Dynamic Grid technology and hardware for grid integration. The levelized cost of energy (LCOE) is 4–5 times lower than the alternatives.

Actemium’s commitment spans the entire manufacturing chain: machining with water-jet cutting, turning and milling, as well as welding, assembly of electrical cabinets and testing. Production and assembly take place mainly at Actemium’s mechanical workshop in Norrköping. Final system integration is done in Linköping, where SeaPattern currently carries out demonstrations.

“The partnership with Actemium, part of VINCI Energies, is an important milestone on the road to scaling our hydropower solution. VINCI Energies has global expertise in energy infrastructure and a strong commitment to sustainable solutions. That makes them an ideal partner as we now enter the industrialization phase.”
Niklas Boman · CEO, SeaPattern

“Together we show that innovation in renewable energy does not always require new infrastructure. Sometimes the greatest opportunities lie in optimizing what already exists,” Boman adds.

About SeaPattern

SeaPattern was founded in Sweden in 2020. The company develops a solution that increases electricity generation in existing hydropower plants by 7–10 %, without environmental harm and without requiring new large-scale infrastructure. The company’s fully integrated OEM solution combines modular, floating turbines in clusters with AI software for dynamic positioning and optimization. With thousands of hydropower plants across Europe, the potential to contribute to the energy transition is significant.
