Swedish Armed Forces orders knowledge development of mobile turbine system from SeaPattern for SEK 10 million
The Swedish Armed Forces has ordered the development of a mobile turbine system for field use from SeaPattern. The order, which opens up a new business vertical within total defence, has a financial framework of approximately SEK 10 million and will be carried out during 2026. It builds on SeaPattern’s participation in the 2024–2025 innovation programme for civil-military synergies, funded by the Swedish Armed Forces and Vinnova.
The order covers knowledge building for a first prototype of a smaller, more mobile version of SeaPattern’s complete turbine system. The aim is a system that can easily be relocated, put into operation where it is needed and generate electricity independently of the power grid.
“This customer order confirms the dual-use potential of our technology. Total defence is now becoming a new vertical for us, with great potential going forward. At the same time, the work strengthens our entire technology platform, including for our commercial customers,” says Andreas Westerberg, CCO at SeaPattern.
